Dr. Bajammal is a spine surgeon, researcher, and educator.
He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada since July 2007. His areas of clinical subspecialty and advanced fellowship training are spine surgery and orthopaedic trauma.
Dr. Bajammal is a formally trained researcher. He obtained a MSc in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University, Canada. His research interests are focused on surgical outcomes health services. In addition, he is interested in surgical educational research, especially the utilization of simulation in interprofessional education & teaching procedural skills.
Dr. Bajammal joined the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Umm Al Qura University, Makkah, Saudi Arabia as an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics in December 2009 and worked as a consultant orthopaedic traumatologist and spine surgeon at Al-Noor Hospital. He was an associate dean for academic development & community service at the Faculty of Dentistry for two years. Currently, he is the associate dean for research & postgraduate studies. During these terms, he has introduced many innovative higher education initiatives.
In April 2012, Dr. Bajammal joined King Abdullah Medical City, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (which is a new tertiary & quaternary healthcare facility) as a consultant spine surgeon to establish & lead the Department of Spine Care. In addition, he established and led the Research Administration to become an independent Research Center. By the time he left the center in December 2013, the center was running more than 30 research studies.
Dr. Bajammal is an advisor & consultant for multiple national & international organizations with a successful track record of high profile projects. He has published more than 15 articles and presented in more than 20 local, national, and international orthopaedics and medical education meetings and conferences.
